Match report Old Parks 168 beat Epping 85 by 83 runs
EPPING'S batsmen failed dismally once again when presented with a decent chance of victory on Saturday.
The home side were shot out for just 85 on a placid track chasing only 169 to win after an excellent bowling performance.
A succession of bad shots and impatience was to blame for the poor display, with too many Epping batsmen playing across the line to straight balls.
Only young guns Jacob Ellis and Alex Merritt played sensibly. Ellis hit an intelligent 31 before he was caught on the boundary and Merritt was stranded on 17 not out.
The only other Epping batsman to make double figures was Dan Sibley with 11.
The Old Parks bowling was not particularly threatening but did not need to be as Epping played abysmally. Maan took 4 for 29, Buxton 2 for 34 and Mir 3 for 11.
Epping had bowled well earlier in the day, with the Old Parks' batsmen unable to cut loose in the face of tight bowling from Tim Adams (2 for 25) and Dave Bickley (2 for 54).
Jamie Abbott hit 33 and Howard Solomondes a classy 56.
Epping's wicket king was spinner Dan Sibley with 4 for 27.
