Match report Epping put up a spirited display against Premier League giants Wanstead, but ultimately fell to a comprehensive defeat.

Epping won the toss and elected to bat on a glorious day and on a great batting track. Yousaf and Stokoe began watchfully, before Stokoe fell to a catch at slip. Yousaf batted superbly for his 31, but only one other Epping batsman, Dan Twitchett (10) reached double figures. However, every batsman did put up a fight as Epping were bowled out for 110 in 36.2 overs.

Epping started superbly with the ball, with Yousaf dismissing two of Wanstead's premier batsman to make the score 28-2. Stand-in keeper Geoff Maynard took both catches behind the stumps, including one humdinger to his right. However, Wanstead captain Akram took the game away from Epping with a scintillating 75 not out as Wanstead coasted to an 8 wicket win inside 14 overs.

Epping will take a great deal of heart and significant positives for the pressure they exerted on their Premier League opponents.
