Epping Cricket Club Lost 120 Runs

Match report Epping were hammered by Buckhurst Hill in their Essex League Cup first round clash at Lower Bury Lane on Saturday. Things seemed to be going well enough for the home side as Hill slumped to 74-7 after 25 of the allotted 45 overs, with Jon Everett (2-15) and Tim Adams (3-25) in good form for the hosts, but a spirited 70 not out from number seven Sanjay Bansal helped drag the visitors up to a competitive 180-8.

The Epping reply was doomed within twelve overs as the home side crashed to 13-5, with Wadood and Hitesh causing havoc in the top order. Only Simon Oliver and Dave Bickley reached double figures as Epping crawled to a paltry 60 all out from 33 overs. A dismal batting effort was concluded by two farcical run-outs.

Epping face either Loughton or South Woodford in a final pre-season friendly next week before kicking off their Division Two campaign against local rivals Harlow on 14th May.
