Match report
Essex League Division 2
Epping 96 lost to Woodford Green 102-0
The word annihilation was appropriate for the sporting spectactle at Woodford Green on Saturday.
The game was over within 3 hours as the home side smashed their local rivals by 10 wickets.
Epping put in a terrible performance as they managed to collapse from 61 for 2 to 96 all out.
They then watched in embarrasment as Green smashed off the runs in just 8.4 overs with a series of 4s and 6s.
The glory was all Woodford Green's as both sides continue their battle to stay in division 2.
The bowling stars were Tony Hussey who bowled an excellent line and length to take 5 for 48.
He was well supported by U Mughal with 4 for 4 and B Weekes with 1 for 20.
Only opener Dean Majeed with 36 managed any sort of decent batting effort for woeful Epping.
If the Epping batting effort was pathetic their bowling was not much better.
They did come up against a belligerent Dave Weekes on a very good day however.
He smited a series of 6s with some unbelievable shots that made him almost impossible to bowl to.
Weekes' 71 not out was a tremendous knock and he got excellent support from fellow opener Geoff Emmanuel (23 not out).
Epping skipper Geoff Maynard said: "That was the worst defeat i have suffered in over 20 years of cricket. We were abysmal and they were tremendous and deserve everything they got.
"We have got a battle on now to avoid relegation and if we play anywhere near as bad as that again we wil deserve to go down."
