Epping Cricket Club Won 3 wkts
Match report
Essex League Division 2
Hutton 270-3 dec lost to Epping 271-7 by 3 wkts
EPPING went tuntastic at promotion certainties Hutton to pull off an incredible victory.
Centurions Dean Majeed and Dan Sibley shared a brilliant 4th wicket partnership of 196 to smash Epping to a remarkable 3-wicket victory, knocking off a massive 271 in just 46 overs.
Majeed, just 16 years old, showed he is one of the best young players in the county, striking a chanceless 104.
And his partner in the run-frenzy Dan Sibley produced one of the finest league innings of the season to smash a sensational 126.
The pair had come to the crease with Epping dead and buried on 38-3 chasing a massive Hutton score of 270-3 dec.
Epping had toiled at the hands of Hutton's Essex 2s player Dave Hammond who struck a marvellous 152 not out and talented young gun Joe Buttleman with 60.
But an early declaration from Hutton skipper Rob Hayne gave Epping plenty of time to chase and after the early wickets, super Sibley and marvellous Majeed set to work.
Both drove with power and conviction and deposited anything short to and over the boundaries.
Sibley was dropped in the 40s but then went on to strike the ball with such conviction that the Hutton boundaries were simply not big enough to contain him.
He reached his century first with another smiting straight drive and Majeed followed a couple of overs later.
Youngster Majeed was the first of the pair to go four runs short of a double century partnership, bowled by Hayne (4-32).
But Sibley stayed firm to make sure there were no Epping wobbles until he was caught on the boundary mistiming one for a fantastic 126.
Epping suffered a minor wobble with 2 more wickets falling quickly but Majeed and Sibley had all but done the job and it was left to Pat Haslam to strike the winning runs with a nine overs to spare.
For Epping it was their batting centuries of the season and the highest fourth wicket partnership in club history.
Epping skipper Geoff Maynard said: "Anyone who was playing or watching this game saw three of the classiest centuries the county of Essex will see this season.
"Each was absolutely brilliant and the crispness of some of the hitting was simply remarkable - it was a privilege just to be there to be honest.
"I am especially pleased for Dean and Dan obviously. We always knew they were capable of that performance and now they have produced it bigstyle."
