Epping Cricket Club Saturday 1st v West Essex on Sat 13 Aug 2005 at 1.30
Match was Abandoned

Match report The weather was the only winner at Lower Bury Lane on Saturday as Epping and West Essex were thwarted in their respective attempts to secure Division 2 survival. The visitors had the best of the little play that was possible, reducing the home side to a perilous 8-3 early on before a hard-hit 39 from man in form Dan Sibley suggested a recovery of sorts. Sibley's dismissal prompted a further Epping slump to 68-6, but a steady partnership of 30 between Graham Hancock (25*) and Simon Oliver either side of a rain delay stabilised things somewhat. Repeated bouts of steady rain ruined any prospects of a positive result though, and the sides were forced to settle for just 4 points apiece.

Results elsewhere conspired to send Epping back into the relegation zone with just four matches remaining, but with only 28 points separating the bottom six clubs it's all still very much to play for.
