Walthamstow 181 drew with Epping 179-8

EPPING were deprived of a deserved victory by a resolute Walthamstow side finishing just 2 runs short.
Needing to hit 182 to win on a difficult run-scoring wicket Epping were given just 40 overs to knock of the runs.
But the home side could and should have pulled off a brilliant victory thanks to the efforts of man-of-the-match Pat Haslam.
He smacked two mighty sixes to leave Epping needing 18 to win off the last 2 overs.
The target had come down to 12 off 8 balls when Haslam launched another monster blow to deep mid wicket.
The fielder seemed to claw it back from behind the line but the six was not signalled and the batsmen ended up with just one run.
they scrambled 7 off the last over.
Epping ended up the 2 runs short with 2 wickets in hand but got just 7 points from the game, missing out an an extra 11 for the win which would have done their survival hopes a world of good.
Earlier in the Epping's bowlers had been in total control with Pat Haslam, finishing off the tail to take a brilliant 5 for 34 and Dave Bickley (2 for 33) and Dean Majeed (1 for25) all too hot to handle.
Walthamstow opener Gary Norris (56) and Andrew Arun (47) were the only visiting bats to get going.
