Match report Essex League Division 2
Billericay 202-8 dec drew with Epping 175-9

Epping's battle to stay in division 2 ended in failure but the Lower Bury Lane men did not go down without a real fight.
Needing to win to stand a chance of avoiding relegation, Epping were all but dead and buried by heavy rain and a delayed start an hour and 20 minutes late.
Epping needed to skittle Billericay for around 150 to stand a realistic chance of a victory and took the early wickets of Billericay captain Paul Southgate and number 3 John Gibb.
But Billericay's experienced players come to the fore and a 3rd wicket partnership of 110 between former Worcestershire player Nathan Batson and opener Paul Wakefield all but made the game safe for Billericay who had to avoid defeat to stay up.
Batson (76) and Wakefield (45) were able to play steadily on a placid track and despite the whole-hearted efforts of the Epping attack the needed clatter of wickets simply did not come.
Both did eventually depart but with Billericay on 140 for 4 the middle to lower order continued to play sensibly.
Epping bowlers Tim Adams (3 for 40) and Dave Bickley (3 for 42) strained every sinew to try and pull of something sepcial but could not prevent Billericay reaching 200 and gaining 8 of the 10 points they needed for safety.
Due to the weather delay, unlucky Epping were destined to receive just 23 overs in chasing down 203 to win in comparison to their opponents 50 over innings.
Epping did not give up however and showed great spirit in mounting a challenge on the almost impossible target striking 10 massive sixes.
A flurry of 4s and 6s were smashed by Dean Majeed (25), Graham Hancock with a 33-ball 52, Dan Sibley (25), Dave Bickley (23) and Dan Sly (23).
Epping blazed there way to 110 for 2 off just 12 overs and an impossible win seemed a possiblity.
But Sibley was caught on the boundary and then Hancock was bowled going for one swipe too many.
Billericay needed to take 5 wickets to ensure their safety and promptly did so with Epping on 152 when Dave Bickley was caught.
With the game up Epping's tail batted out the last 5 overs for a draw, finishing 28 runs short of victory on 175-9.
Epping skipper Geoff Maynard said: "I dont think we should be too down-hearted about going down. There are no poor sides in the 2nd division and we certainly held our own, in fact we have been relegated despite winning more games than Old Parks and Billericay."
