Match report The 10 men of Lower Bury Lane took on our usual season openers Hockerill under overcast skies but mild temperatures.
A friendly toss meant Hockerill batted first and Epping had early joy with paceman Ben Marks taking two early wickets in a fiery opening spell.
Carl Ginn kept things as a tight as anything at the other end but on a good pitch and fast outfield Hockerill began to prosper with A Francis (84) and Jugedo (66no) batting well. Sam Rashid bowled well for Epping to take 2 for 25, while Marc Webb bowled 8 very economical overs for 29 to stem the runflow somewhat.
Hockerill's 227 for 4 off 40 overs but was not insurmountable but Epping had a poor start with Dan Sly and Migs Chhibber going early.
Marc Webb batted solidly for 21 before managing to get out, top eding a long hop.
At 32 for 3 Epping looked dead and buried but a stand of 86 between Geoff Maynard (44) and Leigh Ginn (36) put things back on track. But when both were out in quick succession, the lower order did not wag at all and Epping were skittled for 124.
