Epping Cricket Club Won 7 wickets

Match report Essex League Division 3
Old Brentwoods 146-9 lost to Epping 147-3 by 7 wickets

DESTROYER Dave Bickley returned to the Epping fold with a big big bang, single-handedly ravaging Old Brentwoods with a record-breaking wicket haul.
Bickley, playing his first game of the campaign after an injury-ravaged season last year, took all nine wickets to fall and would no doubt have claimed all 10 if home side Old Brents had managed to field an 11th player.
The Epping seamer was simply superb, finding life and movement on the usual good Old Brents batting track.
He bowled a superb, county standard over to Old Brents opener Sarwar and then trapped him LBW in the next to remove him for a classy 47.
Then Bickley simply wreaked havoc - clean-bowling five Old Brents bats including Danny Buttleman who had fought well to make 46.
Dan Sibley snapped up a sharp chance in the slips and skipper Geoff Maynard also poached one low to his left.
Brilliant Bickley found himself on a hat-trick at one point and saw his man dropped off a difficult chance by Maynard at 3rd slip.
But Bickley's wrecking spree was not to be halted and he managed to wrap up the Old Brents innings for 146 in just 36 overs as he recorded amazing figures of 12.3 overs 4 maidens 9 wickets for 53 runs - setting an Epping club record and no doubt propelling him to the top of the Essex league performance charts.
Epping began their chase for victory under dark and cloudy skies and lost Marc Webb for 1 in the second over.
But Ben Holmes (24) and Maynard launched the recovery, putting on 57 for the 2nd wicket before Holmes was bowled by a yorker.
Maynard however continued to blunt the Old Brents attack and with good support from Paul Offord (34no) led his side to victory.
He was out in the penultimate over for 68 as Epping completed a convicing win with 11 overs to spare.
Epping captain Maynard said: "Our main man who we missed so badly last year returned with a vengeance and was simply brilliant. He would have troubled some very talented players with the way he bowled and i have no doubt he would have taken all 10 if he had the chance.
"Our performance was very professional and bodes well for the games to come after we didn't turn up in our opening game."
