Epping Cricket Club Lost 3 wickets

Match report Essex League Division 3
Epping 230 lost to Harold Wood 233-7 by 3 wickets

EPPING lost out in an amazing run-fest at Harold Wood.
In one of the wackiest games of cricket of the summer, visitors Epping blasted their way to 230 off just 38 overs in blazing heat thanks to an amazing 153 from this season's recruit Shuey Chowdhury.
The Bangladeshi under-19 player smited an amazing 10 sixes and 16 fours in a 100-ball innings of sheer brilliance.
Harold Wood's massive boundaries were simply not big enough for the Banga Boy star who eventually perished in typical fashion, caught just in front of the sightscreen off another booming off drive.
Unfortunately the rest of Epping's batting was not up to scratch. Only Dan Twitchett (14), Dan Sibley (18) and Dave Bickley (13) made any sort of impression.
After Chowdhury's dismissal with the score on 213 for 6 Epping's last 4 wickets subsided for just 17 runs and Epping had clocked up 230 runs but left the home side two hours and 20 over to chase down the score.
Epping's bowlers then ran into in-form Wood openers Sohail and Mangalapalls. The pair punished some loose Epping opening bowling, with Mangalapalls - an Indian grade cricket player particularly lethal on anything wayward.
The pair put on 119 for the first wicket and Wood seemed to be coasting to victory but Tim Adams finally found his line and length to bowl the Indian wizard for 63 and then a much needed drinks break breathed new life into Epping.
On-the-day skipper Dan Sibley brilliant plucked a catch at slip off Pat Haslam to dismiss Sohail for an excellent 85 and Jon Everett had Dave Hollingsworth caught by the same man for 25.
Haslam was beginning to trouble all the batsmen and had Kevin Gibson amazingly caught at gully by Dan Sly, leaping one-handed to his left, for a duck.
Epping scented blood and after Haslam's marvellous bamboozling slower ball trapped Singh LBW for 5, Wood were tottering on 206 for 7.
But a sensible knock from Brabner (23no) and home captain Hafeez (14no) saw Wood home with 4 overs to spare.
Haslam had been the pick of the Epping bowlers with 4 for 49 on a good batting track.
In a way Epping's early run surge had worked against them with their 38-over quickfire innings leaving Wood the best part of 49 overs to knock off the runs.
