Match report Essex League Div 3
Epping 186 beat Old Southendians 170 by 16 runs

EPPING continued their fine recent form with a victory against promotion favourites Old Southendians.
Two weeks before the Lower Bury Lane outfit toppled table leaders Stanford at fortress Epping, and this week it was the turn of the seaside boys in second place to return home defeated.
They have now won four out of their last 5 games and are the form side in the promotion race.
Epping earnt the victory against all the odds after losing the toss and being put into bat on a green wettop.
But the Old Boys' opening bowlers bowled poorly on a helpful surface and allowed Epping to get off to a flier with the Dans Twitchett and Sly in perfect harmony.
Sly was the first to go after confidently rattling up 32 before he was unluckyto get caught at square leg hitting a long hop.
But 15-year-old star Twitchett continued his impressive form with a second successive 50, scoring 62.
Dan Sibley (25) continued the onslaught in the middle order but the inroduction of spin caused the Epping batsmen to get themselves out.
From 105 for 2 the home side slumped to 186 all out with only Geoff Maynard (12) and Shaba Masum (16) registering double figures in the middle to lower order.
The Old Boys' bowling stars were spinners Dave Slaughter (5 for 70) and Buta (3 for 53).
The visitors were left with almost three hours to chase victory but lost opener Dodson early, bowled by Dave Bickley for 7.
Threadgold (38) and Lucas (20) steadied the ship however and with Old Boys skipper Chris Bunce batting well, the visitors looked set for the win they needed.
But Epping simply refused to give in and Bickley was in wicket-taking form once again.
The Lower Bury Lane legend bowled Lucas and Pat Haslam had Threadgold brilliantly caught by Shuey Chowdhury.
Epping then proceeded to try and present the game to Old Southendians', dropping Bunce three times before golden arm Dan Sly removed him for 38.
Bickley then shot out the lower order to take a brilliant 6 for 56 on a lifeless track.
Spinner Dan Sibley took a key wicket to set up the penultimate over victory which Epping fully deserved after sending down a massive 54 overs in the second innings.
