Epping Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI v Frenford on Sun 11 Jun 2006 at 2.00
Epping Cricket Club Won 11 runs
Match report
Match report for 11th June ESL Epping Vs Frenford: Epping win by 14 runs.
The day started well with captain Sibley Winning his 4th toss in a row and electing to bat in sweltering heat.
The innings start badly with Dan Sly going 3rd ball, to a ball that moved away catching the outside edge. Dan Taylor then joined Dan Twitchett who put on 35 off 7 overs, until Taylor (11 despite being hit on the head) was given L.B.W to Uhar. Twicthett (12) followed 3 overs later bowled missing a full toss 1st ball by Lukman. This brought together Matt Everett and Sibley Jnr. Whilst Matt played a very sensible innings Sibley set about his usual big hitting way, scoring a rapid 48 (jug avoidance skipper!!!) before falling with the score on 125. Matt Everett was finally out for 61 with the score on 192. Sibley Snr also chipped in with a knackering 21, extras were a generous 36, and finally leaving us with 210 for 8 of our 40 overs.
Frenford’s reply started great for Epping with J Everett getting opener Tahir caught by Sibley Snr at 1st slip 3rd ball, this brought Rafiq to the crease who set about our bowling attack with some great hitting, however wickets were falling at the other end with Everett getting their other opener for 8 and Preston bowled Yasin for 15. But then Mohammed and Rafiq started to pull the game from Epping until Dan Taylor’s 3rd over which, was to be fair different, bowling 2 wides, 2 singles, a no-ball which went for 4, then another 4 and a 6 (so 18 not that bad) finally bowled a good ball and Rafiq dragged on for a well played 61. Then 2 overs later he bowled a full toss, which was superbly caught by Everett Jnr. Sibley Jnr also got in on this act of bowling full tosses himself to Imtiaz (15) who was again well caught by Matt Everett. This left 10 men Frenford needing 60 of the last 11 overs with 3 wickets in hand, and after Preston dislodged No.8 Adam for a good 19, and a good run out by Sly (Wasim 0) it was as good as done, it just left Preston to get his 3rd and end the game by cleaning up Lookman for 24 leaving them 196 a.o. With 5 overs to spare.
A great win by the lads, good team effort to stick with it, when it was looking bad, and to still come out with a valuable win was excellent.
