Match report I am sorry that this report was brief, most of you are saying thank god!!!!, but I did not play the game so am only going via what I was told.

The Gents team had a pleasant game at Blackmore against Willow Herbs XI and came away with a winning draw.

Batting first the Gents made 161 for 5 thanks to knocks from Tim Batchelor and Ed Holden of 38, able supported by Stuckey and Hancock, both scoring 13. Oakes, playing his first game for the Gents weighed in with a solid 21 not out at the end leaving the Gents with a total that was gettable.

The Gents then took to the field and the opening partnership of Beaumont and Davis. Both bowled well with Beaumont dismissing Edwards for 2 while Davis started impeccably with 4 maidens straight off. Davis was not successfully in the wickets department but bowled his 9 overs for a mere 15 runs. Beaumont finished with 2-35 from 10 overs. Spin Twins Ed Holden and Max Tetlow then ripped apart the Herbs middle order with Holden taking 3 for 25 of 10 over and Tetlow taking 2 for 27 off 10 overs. The Herbs hung on in the end to record a draw but the Gents came away knowing that a victory was nearly achieved.

Willow Herbs is apparently a beautiful ground and a great bunch of lads who like us enjoy their cricket to the full.
