Old Brentwoods v Epping Cricket Club Saturday 1st on Sat 23 Jun 2007 at 1pm

Match report
Epping 248-6 dec Old Brentwoods 0 for 0 match abandoned
THE WEATHER ruined Epping's chances of a morale-boosting return to winning ways against Old Brentwoods.
After winning the toss, Epping opted to bat first under sunny skies on a good track.
Dan Sly and Dan Taylor made good headway against the Old Brents openers, posting 42 for the first wicket until Taylor was bowled by Khan for 16.
Dan Sly was looking set for a big score but was trapped LBW by leg-spinner McGowan for 31.
Epping young guns Alex Merritt and Jacob Ellis were united at the crease and both batted sensibly as Old Brents turned to spin.
Ellis made an assured 22 before he too was trapped LBW by Malik (2 for 76).
Merritt continued to bat positively and was looking set for a maiden first team 50 before he mistimed to midwicket for 33.
At 121 for 4, Epping's innings could have gone either way and it went in the more positive direction thanks to a fine stand of 83 between skipper Geoff Maynard and Dan Sibley.
Sibley was the main runs scorer as he powered his way to a brilliant 93, while Maynard kept things steady at the end with 28 before he was run out.
Sibley eventually perished, trying to hit yet another six and being caught a yard inside the boundary one-handed, when he deserved a century.
Epping closed on a formidable 248 for 6 declared but never had the chance to bowl at Old Brentwoods becaus eof persistent heavy rain which caused the abandonment at 5.15pm.
