WEST Essex smashed their way to a stunning victory in a run bonanza at Epping.
Epping's Lower Bury Lane track turned into a batting paradise under the sun-drenched skies and the bowlers toiled as both sides amassed over 500 runs.
The win was well deserved by visitors West Essex who briliantly chased down a victory target of 266 in just 45 overs.
They got off to a flier in their chase thanks to excellent batting from KAhmed (46) and ZNazir (78).
Both batted fluently and dispatched anything lose as the Epping bowlers found it hard to contain.
Epping turned to spin and Dan Sibley (2 for 48) and Marc Webb both bowled well to give Epping a scent of victory.
But Epping spilled five or six catvhes in the outfield and literally handed the game to West Essex.
Young guns McCloud (53 not out) and Riaz (52 not out) saw their side home with a century partnership in the last over.
Epping's batting effort had been similarly destructive with consistent scoring throughout the line-up.
Marc Webb (24) and Dan Majeed (22) got the scoring underway and Jacob Ellis (26) and Dan Sibley (49) continued the assault.
The real impetus came in the latter overs from Dave Bickley (60 not out) and skipper Geoff Maynard (38) who put on 98 for the eighth wicket.
