Buckhurst Hill v Epping Cricket Club Saturday 1st on Sat 01 Sep 2007 at 12.30pm PLEASE NOTE NEW START TIME
Epping Cricket Club Won 3 wickets
Match report
Buckhurst Hill 240 for 6 dec lost to Epping 241 for 7 by 3 wickets
PROMOTION challengers Buckhurst Hill were blasted off the park by a scintillating display of batting by Epping hotshot Dan Sibley.
Mighty Sibley recorded his third ton of the season but surpassed the other two in smashing 137 to smash Epping to a brilliant win against their local rivals.
In an innings lasting just an hour and a half Sibley smeared eight straight sixes, several smashing into or onto the Hill pavilion.
The bowlers suffered at the hands of Sibley's blade with the first four balls of one over going for 24 runs with a six off a no ball (counting as 7), four runs, then two more sixes and a single.
His blasting left the Hill bowlers figures in tatters - the usually ultra economical Mughal went for 87 off 15 overs and fellow opening bowler Needurandin was dispatched for 88 off 11.
Thanks to Sibley's mighty knock Epping managed to score 241 to win off just 36 overs.
Sibley was out with just 13 needed to win and skipper Geoff Maynard (35no) and Dave Bickley steered Epping home for a rampant three-wicket win with eight overs to spare.
Hill had come into the game hoping for a win to boost their slim promotion chances and the home side started as if they meant business.
Openers Khan (29) and Mulla (56) got them off to a flier and they had the 100 up within 20 overs.
But Epping' bowlers battled away and tight bowling from Bickley (2 for 29) and Marc Webb (2 for 44) steered the game back towards Epping.
Allen (42) and Tim Scott (46) battled well for Hill but neither could post the big score that was needed on such a plumb batting track.
