Match report Epping secured their first victory of the season with a resounding win against Southend.

Southend won the toss and surprisingly chose to bat. Dave Bickley and Mo Kayani took little time to get amongst the Southend top order. The visitors were reduced to 57-8 with good catches behind the stumps by Brown, and in the outfield from Sheridan, Barrett and Kayani. Southend captain Elliott was the only batsman to provide any resistance and scored a good half-century, and put on 68 for the final wicket with Stannard. Southend finished on 125, Kayani taking 5-39 and Bickley 3-39.

Oliver (9) and Matthews (10) began watchfully, but both fell to Elliott. Barrett and Brown faced a testing spell of bowling, but the scoreboard kept ticking and by the time Brown fell for 26 in bizarre circumstances Epping were coasting to victory. Barrett ended with 52 not out supported by Max Tetlow (16 not out) as Epping won by 7 wickets.
