Upminster 4ths v Epping Cricket Club Saturday Third XI on Sat 25 Jul 2009 at 1pm
Epping Cricket Club Lost by 5 Wickets

Match report After winnning the toss Epping elected to bat first with a seemingly strong batting attack. Out strolled Dean Tredgett and Paul the maymaker Offord to blitz the Upminster attack, or not. within a matter of three overs the rusty Tredgett departs for 4 and Offord shortly after. In next Barton junior the inform batsman surly he will guide us to safe waters; BANG first ball Sissen gets his man, a lowly dejected Barton trudges back to the pavillion Gary not happy. Then the wily experienced hands of Farrar and Clapton sooth the tide with a handy partnership with both players looking set for high scores. However an error in judgement means that Clapton off peg is uprooted as he leaves a ball to hit the stumps. At this point the team are 40-4 and in bad shape.

In strolls Beavers who not in the greatest form but none the less needing to put his team in a good position is aware of his job. Beavers gets off to a slow start but begins to build a partnership with Pete hitman Farrar, however as with the day so far Pete gets caught behind to Stapples. At which point the team in a dyer position of 55-5 and needing runs. In comes Davies a faily new recruit though not shabby with the willow. A faily slow start turns into something very exiting as Beavers continues to play good strokes hitting some beautiful cover drives and a couple of pull shots off the quick Stapples. A partnership starts to develop, with some very good quick singles Epping suddenly find themselves at 130-6. The run runs continue to flow with more very valuble runs coming from Preston and Simmonds with Beavers reaching his half century. The Epping innings finally closed on 188 all out with Beavers finishing on 63 and Attar with a rare not out to his name.

After tea the Epping boys knowing their target took to the pitch thinking victory was insight. Graham the power Preston and Dean the wizzard Tredgett opened the attack. Both bowlers bowling well but finding no reward espicially Preston bowling very well and very unlucky not to get a wicket(Ross). Upminster finding themselves at 40-0, Epping sesperatly needed wickets. Beavers brings himself on to bowl and gets a wicket in his 3rd over and that of Bray who had played a good innings. Shortly after Warne AKA Jim Twitchett brings about another wicket and Epping are in with a shout. The Epping bowlers persist bowling good lines with Beavers picking up the wicket of the opener Rehman for 46. However Upminsters batsman continued to get the runs at regular intervals until they found themselves 150-5 and victory insight. Unfortunatly Epping did not score enough and Upminster won with 12 overs left and 5 wickets.
