Match report Carnage travelling to Southend meant only 6 Epping players were present when the Southend captain allowed Epping to bat first. Makeshift opening pair Kayani and Ginn were soon parted when Ginn nicked behind for 5. James Matthews was bowled by a great yorker for 10, before Barrett (24) gave support to the big hitting Kayani. When Kayani holed out for 67, the innings wad poised on 138-5 after 40 overs. However Akbar (58*) and Bidiwala (22) flayed the attack around to put on 79 for the 6th wicket to bring Epping to 217-6.

Billy Holden (2-9) was bowling fantastically but broke down after 2.2 overs. Without the injured Kayani, the Epping attack struggled to break through the Southend resistance, who made no effort whatsover to win the match. Epping used 9 bowlers to try and coax Southend into an attacking shot, but it was not forthcoming. A tedious last hour. A long journey home...
